Larynx & Voice Problems

Hoarseness and other problems of the larynx and surrounding tissues is very common.  Increased voice use in both the work and play environments has put strain on structures that were not meant to be used/abused in the way they are. Telecommunications operators, coaches, pop singers (in bars especially), and people who have to talk in noisy environments are all prone to hoerseness from improper use of their voices as well as people with diseases such as nodules, cancer, vocal polyps, and weakness or paralysis of one or both vocal cords.

Vocal Cord Edema:

Swelling of the tissues over the muscle of the vocal cords can be caused from both acute and chronic ......  Acute viral infections of the larynx are common.  Hoarseness is usually present for a few days associalted with a sore throat and viral symptoms, and then it clears
